Service Description
Design, Development and Operation of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Electrolysers This four-day, in-person training course provides the most comprehensive and detailed exploration of PEM electrolyser stack design, development and operation available anywhere. Designed for engineers, technicians and hydrogen professionals, the program delivers practical, engineering-level knowledge that bridges scientific understanding with real-world industrial application. Over four intensive days, participants gain a complete view of how PEM electrolysers are designed, built and operated — from the inner workings of individual cells to full system integration and performance optimisation. Each topic is explained clearly using data, diagrams and case studies drawn from real hydrogen projects, ensuring that every concept connects directly to practical field experience. The course covers the full scope of PEM electrolyser technology, including: - Core electrochemical principles and cell reactions - Membrane, catalyst, electrode and plate design - Stack assembly, compression and cooling - Water, hydrogen and oxygen management - Power electronics, control logic and balance-of-plant systems - Efficiency, degradation mechanisms and lifetime improvement - System testing, diagnostics and modelling approaches Delivered entirely in person, this interactive program encourages discussion, group problem-solving and direct engagement with the instructor. Participants analyse real performance data, evaluate design trade-offs and develop a strong understanding of how engineering decisions affect system behaviour and reliability. By the end of the course, learners will be able to: -Explain the complete operation and design of PEM electrolysis systems -Evaluate the influence of design parameters on efficiency and durability -Interpret operational data and identify performance limitations -Apply best practices for safety, optimisation and troubleshooting This program is ideal for professionals working in system design, R&D, project engineering, commissioning or operations. Taught by Hunor Kacso, a hydrogen engineer with extensive industry experience in PEM system development and deployment, the course combines depth, clarity and real-world insight — helping participants build genuine capability in one of the most important technologies in the hydrogen economy. Duration: 4 days (in-person) Includes: Printed materials, practical exercises, case studies and certificate of completion.

Bookings All training courses are delivered live and instructor-led via Zoom or in person, depending on the selected option. Bookings can be made directly through our website using the online booking system. Once a booking is confirmed, attendees will receive an automated confirmation email containing course details and the Zoom link or venue information. Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed in writing. Places are confirmed only after payment has been received. Spaces are limited to ensure an interactive and effective learning environment, so early registration is recommended. Rescheduling We understand that schedules can change. Attendees may reschedule their booking to another available course date through the online booking portal up to seven (7) days before the course start date, subject to availability. If you need to reschedule within seven days of the course, please contact us directly and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request, though alternative dates cannot be guaranteed. Please note that rescheduling applies only to the same course type. Transfers to a different course may be treated as a new booking.
